HALO No Kill Rescue Shelter
H.A.L.O. Rescue was created in 2006 with a mission to create a NO KILL safe haven for abused and abandoned animals. H.A.L.O. believes in a community where there are no more homeless pets. What sets us apart from other shelters is we are Indian River County’s only No-Kill animal shelter for dogs, cats and small animals. This means we do not euthanize for age, space, medical needs, or behavioral issues. Once an animal enters H.A.L.O. we make a pledge to them to provide all physical, emotional, and medical care needed until a forever home is found. While we primarily work within Indian River County to make Indian River County No Kill, we also bring in animals all over the state and even outside of Florida.

Mental Health Association
The Walk-In Center is designed to meet the emerging and imminent mental health needs of individuals and families in our community while enhancing the quality of their lives. The Walk-In Center provides screenings and therapy sessions to Indian River County residents at no charge and charges a nominal fee for those out of county. No Appointment Necessary…just walk in. It’s OK to get help!

For The Love Of Paws
For The Love Of Paws provides a sanctuary or new homes for pets left behind by senior citizens who can no longer care for them. There is also a Paws Pet Food Pantry to provide pet food to food banks, veteran and senior citizen organizations.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (IRCSO) is located in sunny Vero Beach, Florida. The Sheriff’s Department is a public service facility providing a range of services for a county of over 150,000 citizens. The Manatee Observation and Education Center
The Manatee Observation and Education Center is a waterfront wildlife observation and nature education center located on Florida’s east coast in downtown Fort Pierce. The endangered Florida manatee, also called sea cow, is the main attraction. Manatees can be viewed at The Center year-round! Stand along the covered observation walkway or climb the second story observation tower to see Florida’s “Gentle Giants” resting or playing in Moore’s Creek. These are wild, not captive manatees, so one never knows when they might swim by.
Hope for Families Center
The Homeless Family Center provides Emergency and Transitional Shelter for Homeless Families from Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin, and Okeechobee Counties.
The 4th Street facility can accommodate seven families in the Emergency Shelter and twelve families in the Transitional Shelter which translates into a total of 72 individuals that may be housed on any given day. In addition, three stand-alone homes are occupied by families who have transitioned from the Center to greater self-sufficiency.

National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum
The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum is the only museum dedicated solely to preserving the history of the U.S. Navy SEALs and their predecessors. Located in Fort Pierce, Florida, the Museum resides on the training grounds of the original Navy combat divers. The Museum promotes public education by providing hands-on opportunities for all ages to explore the history of the Navy SEALs through interactive exhibits.
Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County
We’ve made a loving promise to the animals. We are the only animal shelter in Indian River County that promises to accept all animals, regardless of age, health, behavior, or adoptability. We also promise to provide a full range of services to keep animals “out of the Shelter” and in loving homes.

McLarty Treasure Museum
The McLarty Treasure Museum is located North A1A on Orchid Island, north of Windsor and Vero Beach, Florida. The museum occupies part of the former site of the Survivors’ and Salvagers’ Camp – 1715 Fleet, and is part of Sebastian Inlet State Park. It houses exhibits on the history of the 1715 Spanish treasure.

Archive Center & Genealogy Department
The Archive Center and Genealogy Department is specialized and unique from the rest of the Indian River County Main Library. Since the department was voted the ‘Best Genealogy Library in a small town’ people travel a long way to use the collection. In addition, the Florida and local history collection is very extensive. Since the hurricanes of 2004, the library has received 10-15,000 photographs and 50,000+ documents.
Indian River Genealogical Society
The Indian River Genealogical Society, Inc. had its beginnings when the Colonial Dames of the XVII Century met and discussed forming a genealogy society to help their members and increase membership. On 6 April 1983, the first meeting and founding members met—Louise Auten, George Wilson, Freda Hoppe, Carolyn Scagnetti, Ruth McConathy, Edward Hungerford, Martha Dodd, Burton Holt and Mabel Lutz. The original meeting place was the social hall of the Roseland United Methodist Church. Since 1991 when the new library was built, the Society has met in the large meeting room at the Indian River County Main Library.
The Arc of Indian River County

Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge
Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge is a United States National Wildlife Refuge located just off the western coast of Orchid Island in the Indian River Lagoon east of Sebastian, Florida. The refuge consists of a 3-acre island that includes an additional 2.5 acres of surrounding water and is located off the east coast of Florida of the Indian River Lagoon.
Laura Riding Jackson’s Home
Inspired by the life and work of poet Laura (Riding) Jackson, the foundation, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, promotes a passion for the written word through literary programs for writers of all ages in Indian River County. In addition, with its focus on history, literature and the relationship of man to the natural world, the foundation preserves Laura’s home as an example of environmentally sensitive Florida architecture.
Senior Resource Association
For more than 40 years, Senior Resource Association (SRA) has provided services to support and advocate for independence and dignity of older adults in Indian River County. Every day, our Meals on Wheels, Adult Day Care, and Community Coach transportation programs provide wellness and peace of mind for seniors and their families as well as adults aged 18 and older who need supervised care. Senior Resource Association, in conjunction with Indian River Transit, also manages GoLine, the public transit system with 15 fixed routes throughout Indian River County. Residents and visitors of all ages catch the bus at no charge.
Camp Haven
We are a non-profit organization based in Vero Beach, Florida helping the residents of Indian River County recover their lives. Camp Haven provides shelter and stability while residents rebuild their lives with professional counseling, job opportunities, hope and encouragement.
United Way of Indian River County
United Way of Indian River County is a locally governed and managed non-profit organization consisting of nine full-time staff and run by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. We are one of 1,800 locally run United Way affiliates worldwide. Last year over 700 volunteers from the community helped further United Way’s activities and goals.
Auxiliary of Indian River Medical Center
The 500 plus members of the Auxiliary serve in more than 30 departments and service areas. These include various offices and waiting rooms, outpatient endoscopy, emergency department, cancer center, recovery room, reception/escort/courier services, Stork Club, the Pink Corner Gift Shop and the Thrift Shop at 1855 14th Avenue, and many more.

Dogs For Life
Dogs For Life specializes in training Hearing Dogs, Mobility Assistance Dogs and Service Dogs for veterans & non-veterans to assist with daily challenges, as well as the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress. Dogs for Life also operates a Dog Park at 12th Street and 16th Avenue that provides a clean and safe environment for dogs to exercise and socialize. Annual membership is $100 for dogs that are inoculated, neutered and social.
Youth Sailing Foundation of Indian River County, Inc.
Youth Sailing Foundation’s mission is to provide Indian River County with educational, recreational, and competitive sailing programs for all ages in a fun and safe environment. Lessons, on a fleet of donated boats, are free for children from age 8 to 18 during the school year. Both on-the-water and in-the-classroom training are used by volunteer instructors and coaches to teach sailing.
