Domestic Violence is a pattern of abusive behaviors used to establish power and control over an intimate partner often leading to the threat or use of violence. Abuse is any controlling behavior, hurtful acts, word, or gesture that injures another’s body or emotions. Domestic violence is not a disagreement, a marital spat, or an anger management problem.All Treasure Coast victims of domestic violence who are requesting emergency shelter receive safe housing at one of their two residential shelter facilities.Anyone can access SafeSpace services by the 24-hour hotline 1-800-500-1119 or referral by friends or family, law enforcement, or other social services agencies.At SafeSpace, the ultimate vision is the elimination of battering and abuse as an option in personal, family, and workplace relationships. Their vision is to be a contributing member of the community, shaping a generation of individuals who consider violence against another human being unacceptable under any conditions.SafeSpace provides a refuge where victims can heal from the devastating effects of domestic violence and build their self-esteem while they are working towards a future free from violence.SafeSpace is a private non-profit, United Way organization that provides services to victims of domestic violence and their children.Program Services
