Gallery 14 presents Texture, Mystery and Emotion: Dramatic Paintings by Valerie Cecire and Shelley Weltman. The exhibit, will run from October 1-30, with a reception on Friday October 2, from 5-8pm. Valerie Cecire, new to Vero Beach from Westport, Connecticut, specializes in expressive, colorful lanscapes that evoke a dreamlike introspection. Her paintings are found in many private collections, and have been exhibited in Japan, Italy, Manhattan and Connecticut. Valerie communicates emotions through intimate relationships of air and space, light and dark, color, form and surface texture, using scratching, brushing, mopping and manipulating to discover new visual territories. Her work speaks to viewers through a soft, peaceful pallete. Also on view will be a special expanded showing of work by Shelley Weltman, the Gallery's newest partner.
:
Shelley, who paints in a large converted garage studio, reminiscent of a downtown Manhattan loft, is often inspired by Jackson Pollack. She creates abstract expressionist canvases that burst with a kalidescope of color. Her playful experiments often entwine realistic elements with purely non-representational images, such as the sun and grasses. Also on view, will be work in watercolor, acrylic, oil, graphite, mixed media, collage, jewelry, photography, ceramics and sculpture, by Gallery 14 partners: Edgardo Abello, Lila Blakeslee, Barbara du Pont, Mary Ann Hall, Barbara Landry, Virginia Knapp, Deborah Morrell Polackwich, and Dorothy Napp Schindel and represented artists: Carol Staub, Bryan Beck, Francis Mesaros, Joan Earnhart, Terry Green, Walford Campbell, Viola Pace Knudsen and Emily Heinzel.
Tuesday through Friday 11am - 6pm (First Friday until 8:00pm), and Saturday 11am-5pm)
