Summer Rowing Camps
This event took place on June 5, 2023. See upcoming events in Vero Beach.
At Vero Beach Rowing, we’re passionate about rowing and we love sharing this passion with our community. Our aim is to foster physical fitness, personal growth, and a spirit of cooperation, through both competitive and recreational opportunities. This commitment is especially reflected in our youth programs, which are open to young people from all schools.
We strongly believe that no one should be denied the opportunity to row due to financial circumstances, which is why we offer need-based scholarships. If you’re interested, please click here to apply.
Rowing instills commitment and discipline that easily translates into other aspects of life. Especially for young people, it can be a life-changing experience. If you’re willing to embrace the challenges of rowing – the ups and downs, the relentless quest for perfection – you’ll discover an inner resilience that makes everything else in life feel possible.
The sense of camaraderie fostered by rowing is deeply ingrained. This shared spirit often leads to lifelong friendships and cherished memories from the sport.
Summer Rowing Programs
We are excited to announce three different levels of Summer Rowing Programs tailored for all junior rowers (7th graders through 12th grade): Learn To Row, Advanced Camp, and High Performance Rowing. Once again, need-based scholarships are available for those who require assistance. Click here to apply.
The Learn To Row Camp is a fun, hands-on introduction to rowing for newbies entering grades 7-12 in the fall of 2023. Campers will enjoy learning the basics of rowing, getting fit, and having a blast on the water! No prior experience is required.
This camp runs weekly from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 11:00 am, from June 5 to July 21 (no camp on July 4th).
Learn to Row Camp lasts a week, but campers can register for as many weeks as they like. After completing two weeks, they are eligible to join our Advanced Camp.
The camp fee is $250 per week.
The Advanced Camp, for rowers and coxswains with at least one season of experience or two Learn to Row Camps under their belts, focuses on perfecting technique, enhancing fitness, and preparing for competition. It culminates with an optional participation in the Halifax Summer Regatta on the last day of camp (July 29).
This camp is also weekly from Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 11:00 am, running from June 5 to July 29 (no camp on July 4th).
The camp fee is $250 per week or $1,400 for the entire summer. Please note that regatta expenses are not included in the fee.
The High Performance Camp is designed for High School rowers and coxswains with at least a season’s racing experience. Participants will refine their skills in small boats, work on strength training, and prepare for competition. This camp emphasizes preparation for the Summer Festival of Rowing in Sarasota (July 13-15). The option of competing in the Halifax Summer Regatta on July 29 is also available.
The camp runs weekly from June 12 to July 29, with two daily sessions. Morning sessions are from 7:00 to 9:00 am on weekdays, and afternoon sessions are on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The camp fee is $250 per week or $1,400 for the entire summer. Again, regatta expenses are not included.
General Camp Information
For all camps, participants are required to bring a refillable water bottle, non-baggy shorts and T-shirt, sneakers and socks, sunglasses or a hat, and sunscreen.
