Spice Club

Here is a small monthly treat for anyone who likes to cook, or wants to start. The Indian River County Library System runs a Spice Club, and joining in is easy. Each month there is a new featured spice, and you stop by to pick up a kit to take home.

Each kit holds 2 tablespoons of that month's spice, plus a handout with some background on it, along with a few other extras. It's a low-pressure way to try something new in your own kitchen, at your own pace, and maybe find a new favorite for weeknight dinners.

Kits are handed out on the first Friday of each month. The December pickup is Friday, December 4, from 10 AM to 5 PM, at the Reference desk at 1600 21st Street in Vero Beach. Since the pickup window runs all day, you can swing by whenever it works for you.

This one would suit home cooks, curious beginners, and anyone who enjoys a reason to visit the library. Grab a kit, try the spice in something tasty, and come back next month to see what's next.
