ENTRANTS WANTED FOR MCKEE BOTANICAL GARDEN'S BUILD-YOUR-OWN LEGO® BRICK CREATION COMPETITION
Youth, Adult, and Professional categories available; registration deadline December 15
Aspiring builders of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate in McKee Botanical Garden's Build-Your-Own LEGO® Brick Creation Competition. The competition is being held in conjunction with McKee's Nature Connects sculpture exhibition on display at the Garden beginning January 2015. There is no cost to enter the competition and the deadline for registration is December 15.
The Build-Your-Own LEGO® Brick Creation Competition will be divided into three categories: Youth, Adult, and Professional. Sculptures must represent a plant, animal or local landmark and be the builder's own creation. Any type of LEGO bricks including DUPLO may be used, however, LEGO kits are not allowed. Sculptures are to be delivered in completed form, either freestanding or attached to a base measuring no larger than 24" x 24".
Creations for both the Adult and Professional categories will be displayed at the Garden from January 24 through February 1, 2015. Youth creations will be on view April 3 through April 12.
A first place People's Choice winner in each of the three categories will be determined by Garden visitors while on display. Winners will receive a one-year family membership to McKee Botanical Garden.
"LEGO® bricks are about inspiring creativity and imaginative thinking," stated McKee Executive Director Christine Hobart. "Through our Build-Your-Own LEGO Brick Creation Competition we want to encourage people to express their own creativity and bring us their best, most unique LEGO sculpture creation."
