Vero Verse Fear of Falling

In the dead of night, I must flee

To the bathroom to take a pee

Standing up with joints creaking

Will I make it before I’m leaking?

On an errant shoe, I trip

Without anything near to grip

Down I go knees knocked-up first

No one’s home to hear me curse

Barely missing what I dread

Having the wall hit my head

That’s not all there’s more to rhyme

Because I have many stairs to climb

Alas if a misstep takes place

Up or down on my staircase

Long ago I’ve lost any grace

Terrified I’ll end up on my face

Exiting my car in a parking lot

Will I trip over a concrete block

If perchance another driver isn’t gazing down

They might not see me face down on the ground

The very least I could be bruised

Without a doubt I’d be confused

On my insurance dare I claim

That I’m not the one who should be blamed

Truthfully, I don’t care who’s at fault the lot or driver

I’m grateful to emerge a viable survivor

When it rains, and I’m not inside

Must I swallow what’s left of pride

Choosing shoes with a skid resistant tread

Better looking old than being dead

The opportunities of falling are too numerous to mention

The moral of the rhyme is it’s best to pay attention
