If you have ever looked at your yard and wondered how to keep it green without wasting water or harming the lagoon, this class is for you. UF/IFAS Extension Indian River County runs a monthly one-hour lecture series on Florida-Friendly Landscaping at Brackett Library. It started with an introduction and then covered the 9 Florida-Friendly Landscaping principles one at a time.
The November session is "Protect the Waterfront," the last topic in this year's series. It makes sense to end there, since so much of what we do in our yards ends up in the water around us.
You do not need a big lot to get something out of it. The organizers say the talks are meant for anyone managing a yard, a patio, or shared community spaces, and they are built to help you grow smarter, save water, and keep your landscape looking its best. If you missed the earlier sessions, you can still come to this one.
When: Friday, November 13, 2026, 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
Where: Brackett Library, 6155 College Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32966.
Registration is encouraged. The library's calendar says to sign up through the "Brackett Library by UF/IFAS Extension Indian River County" page on Eventbrite.
