Rotary Kids Triathlon

The 2nd Annual Rotary Kids Triathlon will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 – a fun and safe, short course, Swim-Bike-Run event. The race will allow elementary and middle school children between the ages of 6 – 13 to participate in a multisport youth event geared for both 1st time triathletes and seasoned competitive triathletes. After we sold out to 200 kids last year, the event is taking place again at the Victor Hart Sr. Community Enhancement Complex/Gifford Aquatic Center in Vero Beach.

> No Child Will be Turned Away due to cost, disability, or skill level

> All Proceeds Benefit Youth in our community

Value Proposition: YOUTH

Our Rotary Kids Triathlon objectives are to:

(i) empower youth from all Walks of Life,

(ii) provide them with Equitable Access,

(iii) promote an Active and Healthy Lifestyle – by getting the kids to put down their phones/boardgames, thereby improving their physical/mental well-being as well as their relationships/friendships and social skills, and

(iv) offer this event as a Challenge/Responsibility that positively impacts their Courage and Resolve.

Additional Program Highlights:

> Kids who are novice or non-swimmers can walk in the heated Gifford pool, or have a friend or relative complete the swim segment within a relay team (i.e., there is no reason for any one child not to participate!)

> For the nominal early-bird entry fee of $20 (scholarships available to make this free for those in need), each child will receive a t-shirt, swim towel and cap, backpack for storing their equipment, beautiful Finisher Medal, and a really cool trophy if they place 1st, 2nd or 3rd for their age – and there will be plenty of water available during the event along with healthy snacks after the kids complete the course!

> The County has designated Dec. 7 as a Family Community Day at the Victor Hart Sr. Complex, allowing all youth participants, as well as their families and friends, to swim for free for the rest of the day at the Gifford Aquatic Center

> And finally, Rotary’s partnership with Indian River County enables pre-registered kids to participate in pre-race clinics in the summer and fall for safety education and for training preparation purposes.

CONCLUSION

Our Rotary Club would like:

…to see the impact of our contribution and efforts on the people and community we serve

…to think this will continue to get bigger and better as this exciting event is rolled out every year

…the children to come back, feeling inspired and motivated by what they witnessed last year, and what they will witness this year and in the years ahead

…all participants to make connections and build relationships that they might otherwise not have had an opportunity to create

…to ensure our event starts with fun – fun for the children, fun for the parents, and fun for our volunteers
