Rediscovering Klimt

This event took place on January 6, 2017. See upcoming events in Vero Beach.

Where: 1470 Highland Avenue, Melbourne, FL, United States

Rediscovering Klimt, a member exhibit, will open on January 3, 2017 at Fifth Avenue Art Gallery in Eau Gallie. Using Klimt's inspiration of gold and gold leaf in his works, the artists of Fifth Avenue Art Gallery have challenged themselves to incorporate this medium in their own work. There will be a First Friday Opening on January 6, from 5:30 pm through 8:30 pm.

Continuing with the energy, we will have an artist's talk on January 14 by Jini James, a member artist. "Klimt is one of my very favorites from the period. His work is very complex and contains gold leaf, a craft that he learned from his father" said James. "I learned how to apply leaf from a sign painter who provided leafing services to our boatyard customers. He even did the gold leaf restoration on the tall ship AMERICAN EAGLE". This process is available to artists and crafters alike with imitation products and Jini will show you how she applied it to her painting, now a work in progress. The talk will begin at 2 pm. Come early, seating is limited!

Fifth Avenue Art Gallery is located in the Melbourne Eau Gallie Arts District.
