J.M. Stringer Gallery is pleased to present "Quiet Moments: Coast to Coast," featuring the recent paintings of Jim McVicker and George Van Hook.

McVicker hails from Humboldt County in northern California. Painting from life, in both his studio and outdoors, his impressionistic oeuvre contains landscapes, still lifes, and figure paintings that capture the quiet moments of sensitivity and beauty all around us. Originally inspired by the Pennsylvania Impressionists, Van Hook’s paintings are a marriage of external and internal forces - the moments that emerge on canvas reflect both the beauty of the world and the artist’s innermost response. He currently resides in Cambridge, New York.

This is McVicker’s first two-man exhibition with the gallery, so join us in welcoming him during a wine and hors d'oeuvres opening reception. The artists will be present all three days, so please take the opportunity to say hello!
