Model Railroad Exhibit

This event took place on December 20, 2014. See upcoming events in Vero Beach.

Where: McKee Botanical Garden 350 US Highway 1 Vero Beach, FL 32962

Families along the Treasure Coast can experience the joy and delight of the holiday season with a variety of activities and attractions during McKee Botanical Garden's “Holidays at McKee”.

A staple for more than a decade, the railroad display began with just a small circular track and has since grown to include four trains and over 200 ft. of track on three levels. Several enhancements to the intricate display have taken place over the past year including the addition of new buildings and accessories, modifications to the lower tunnel, and cattle sounds on its audio system, all to give an even more realistic quality to the tiny railroad town bustling with activity. Construction of the display is done entirely by hand and takes nearly 200 hours to complete. Dedicated train volunteers Peter Tyson and Eric Menger who construct the display will also serve as conductors during the three-night event.

Additional attractions will include a holiday letter writing station where children can create their wish list, visits with Santa Claus, and Mrs. Claus' Serendipity Candy Shop. The Garden Gift Shop will be stocked with a variety of items perfect for holiday gift-giving, and Osceola Bistro at the Garden Café will have a special menu of seasonal refreshments available for purchase.
