Vero Beach Museum of Art Shifts to Summer Hours, and the Calendar Is Packed

The Vero Beach Museum of Art officially moved to its summer schedule this week. Galleries are now closed Mondays, open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Complimentary docent-led tours continue daily at 2 p.m. Summer class registration is also open, with the new term running June 1 through August 8.

If you haven't made it to American Made: Paintings and Sculpture from the DeMell Jacobsen Collection, you have until June 7. The exhibition spans 250 years of American art, Sargent, Cassatt, Sarah Miriam Peale, and more, and it closes before summer really gets rolling. Also on view: Construction: From Abstraction to Architecture through July 12, and Museum in the Garden: Envisioning the New VBMA, which traces the museum's planned expansion and runs through January 2027.

Looking ahead, naturalist-artist James Prosek brings more than 70 works to the Holmes Gallery starting July 11. Abstract painter Jill Nathanson follows with Chromatic Phrases on July 25. The fall and winter calendar is equally strong, highlights include a lecture on Picturing Paradise from Audubon to the Florida Highwaymen on June 13, Ballet Vero Beach at the museum in November, and the opening of Hokusai, Hiroshige, Hasui: Japanese Landscapes in Print on November 21. The season wraps with a free Holidays at the Museum event in December and Gala 2027: Cherry Blossoms at Night on January 29.

Summer classes span a solid range, Gardens in Art History on Tuesday evenings, Still Life and Abstract Painting sessions with Barry Shapiro, and wellness-leaning offerings like Chair Yoga and Qigong for those who want something a little more contemplative. Full schedule and registration are available at vbmuseum.org.
