Riverside Theatre Becomes Vero's Summer Hub with Food, Music, and Live Performance

With the curtain down on 9 to 5: The Musical and the 2024/25 season officially wrapped, Riverside Theatre isn't going quiet for the summer. It's going bigger. The venue is launching Summer at Riverside Theatre: Vero's Gathering Place, a season-long run of food, live music, cooking events, and performances stretching through Labor Day.

At the heart of it is Executive Chef Sue Torres, helming The Loop Kitchen and Bar with a menu drawing on global cuisines and culinary traditions. Expect cooking demos, tastings, craft cocktails built for the season, and live music under the oaks. Programming will keep rolling out as the summer goes on, so the calendar is still growing.

This weekend offers a solid preview of what's ahead. Guest chef Pascal Messier steps in with Latin and Peruvian-inspired BBQ, complete with demos and tastings for those who want more than just a plate. On the performance side, Ballet Vero Beach takes the stage Friday through Sunday for Spring Flings, a program that includes Balanchine, an ABBA-scored piece, and a returning crowd favorite. Tickets run $10 to $90. Comedy Zone follows with headliner Greg Hall joined by New York comedian C.P. Post for two shows nightly Friday and Saturday. Tickets for those shows are $15 to $25.

It's a rare setup, serious dining, live dance, and stand-up comedy all on one campus in the same weekend. For a community that tends to slow down once the snowbirds head north, Riverside is making a clear case that summer in Vero doesn't have to mean waiting for fall. The full schedule and any new additions are posted at riversidetheatre.com.
