Pepper and Salt BBQ Surprises Frozen Cast With Final-Show Feast

When Riverside Children's Theatre closed its run of Frozen the Musical last weekend, the cast and crew got an extra treat they didn't see coming: a full sandwich spread courtesy of Pepper and Salt BBQ.

A Family Night at the Theater Sparks Something Bigger

John and Heather Chianis, owners of Pepper and Salt BBQ, caught a performance earlier in the run with their two young children in tow. The show left such an impression that the couple decided to do something about it, they offered to cater a pop-up dinner for the entire cast and crew after the production's final performance.

Sandwiches, Smiles, and a Well-Earned Send-Off

True to their word, Pepper and Salt showed up after the last curtain call. Once the cast traded costumes for street clothes, they gathered in the Richardson Room for a low-key celebration fueled by barbecue sandwiches, a fitting way to wrap up weeks of hard work and sold-out shows.

More Than a Meal

The gesture came right as Pepper and Salt opens its new location at Hogan Yards, and conversations are already underway about bringing student performers out to entertain guests there later this year. It's a small-town moment that captures something bigger: local businesses showing up for local talent, and finding new ways to keep supporting the arts long after the final bow.
