Mulligan’s Skim Jam Presented by shore lb. Returns to Vero Beach

The world’s largest one-day skimboard contest is back and skimboarders from across the globe are frothing at the chance to compete.

Now in its 12th year, the Mulligan’s Skim Jam Presented by shore lb., takes place at Sexton Plaza Beach, 1050 Beachland Boulevard, Vero Beach, on August 31. Beach registration opens at 8 a.m., followed by a rider’s meeting at 8:30 and competition commencing at 9 a.m. The awards ceremony is set for 5 p.m. and takes place during the after party hosted by Walking Tree Brewing, 3209 Dodger Road, Vero Beach.

“We’re proud to invite the global skim community to our hometown and show them some good ole’ Southern hospitality,” Chris Ellison, Chief Extreme Officer said. “But, seriously, the contest is about all of us coming together to support the Vero Beach Lifeguard Association. This nonprofit organization keeps our beaches safe for everyone to enjoy and proceeds from the event allow them to purchase vital life-saving equipment.”

All proceeds from sponsors, entry fees and raffles will benefit VBLA. Everyone from competitors to spectators are encouraged to purchase raffle tickets during the event, with chances to win fantastic prizes, including: one of a kind artwork, skimboards, skim apparel, gift certificates and more.

Divisions are set by skimboard ability – not age – and are as follows: I suck, I’m good, I’m better I’m turning pro tomorrow and Pro. Advance registration is not required, as all competitors will register on the beach prior to competition.
