America turns 250 this July 4th, and Vero Beach is treating it like the milestone it is. The City has organized a multi-day celebration under the banner USA All Day: Pioneers to Paradise, packed with parades, historical events, live music, and fireworks from June 27 through Independence Day.
Things kick off early with the USA 4K Race at Pocahontas Park on June 27. Then on July 3, the focus shifts to Vero Heritage's 1776 Colonial Costume Ball at The Heritage Center. Think Founding Fathers, Colonial Belles, heavy hors d'oeuvres, and a cash bar, plus a crowd challenge to identify a British spy hiding among the guests. The evening is preceded by a time capsule burial, sealed until 2076. Tickets are $25 at veroheritage.org.
July 4th itself runs dawn to dusk. The Independence Day Parade steps off down 14th Avenue at 10 a.m., followed by an antique car display at the Old Train Station and birthday cake at the Community Center. By late afternoon, Riverside Park becomes the hub, food trucks, vendors, a bounce house, and a Veterans Ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Live band Riptide takes the stage at 6, with pie-eating and hot dog contests in between. Fireworks close out the night at 9 p.m.
The celebration is presented in partnership with Cleveland Clinic, Piper, Dyer Auto, MidFlorida Credit Union, the Vero Beach Chamber of Commerce, Vero Heritage, Jackie Robinson Training Complex, FPL, and others, with support from Indian River County.
