When you think of a restaurant that is a true institution in the Vero area, I know of several that come to mind, but none of them have the longevity that Casey’s Place has. Owner Casey Steil first opened this restaurant in 1981 and has been operating on Cardinal Drive for over 38 years! As restaurants come and go, Casey’s has proven if you have a winning formula, that longevity for a small family run business is possible. These days, you will see Casey’s son, also named Casey as the face of the business. Their burgers are what most people associate them with, and I have to tell you, Im a huge fan and think this is one of the best burgers you will find in Vero!
Located on the corner of Cardinal Drive and Azalea Lane on the island, and as stated above, they have been in this same location for the last 38 years. With their small foot print, they do not have their own parking lot, but you can find street spots all around them. As you walk up, you will notice the mature landscaping and the large Oak trees that provide shade for you as you dine al fresco. To place your order, walk up to the window, and take a seat for a short wait for freshly cooked food. They will call your name for you to come and pick it up.
Now let’s dive right in and see what this place has to offer and what I had to eat!
As one of their top sellers, the classic cheeseburger is always a good choice! The burger patty is grilled then topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, Swiss & American cheeses, mayo, special sauce and served on a Kaiser bun. The burger patty was cooked and seasoned to perfection and the veggies were fresh and crisp.
I dont see this item on the menu, so it must be a special or a new menu item. A large Mahi filet is either grilled or blackened and served on a kaiser bun with lettuce, tomato, onions and tarter sauce. The fish was tender, flaky, and very moist and the veggies were fresh and crisp.
If your looking for something a little lighter but still packed with protein, check out one of their salads. It was served in a large bowl with lettuce, freshly chopped veggies and 6 oz of diced up chicken breast (grilled or blackened) served hot. Everything was beyond fresh and very flavorful.
I had mentioned to a few of my foodie friends that I was going to review Casey’s place, and all of them told me to make sure I tried one of their breakfast sandwiches. I chose the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich, and it was an excellent choice! A fried egg is flanked by two slices of cheese, topped with bacon, and served on a kaiser bun with lettuce and tomato. The sandwich had a flavor that reminded me of an egg salad sandwich and was quite delicious! Deirdre Williams, a long time employee (28 years) came up with the idea of serving breakfast. Breakfast is served from 9:00 am – 11:00 am.
In Conclusion:
I’ve eaten here several times before the review and this place continues to impress me with how fresh and tasty their offerings are. From classic burgers, hot dogs, hot & cold deli sandwiches, salads, and breakfast, they have something on their menu to please most anyone, so I highly recommend you check them out, I know you won’t be disappointed!
