Inti International – Restaurant Review 2019

by “The Food Guy” – Food Blogger / Restaurant Critic for Vero Vine and Vero Beach Foodie

Opening almost 2 years ago in November 2017, Inti International is named after an ancient Incan sun god and is a unique concept for Vero.  The dishes offered here come from diverse backgrounds and cultures like Peruvian, Mexican and Latin American, thus the name “International”.  The restaurant served us a nice variety of dishes to try so we could sample what they have to offer.

Located in Miracle Mile on 7th Ave in what was previously known as The Long Branch Saloon, is one of the most unique restaurant concepts to come to Vero in years.  The place has been completely redone and while I don’t know what the old Long Branch Saloon looked like, there isn’t much that appears to remain from the previous establishment other than the shell of the building.  The outside has been updated with a fresh look and feel and the inside is absolutely gorgeous.  From a bright, bold tropically decorated walls, two-toned green booths, and the accent lighting throughout, no stone was left unturned when they renovated this place.  Even the bathrooms were completely redone which is something that most places tend to overlook.  Parking is somewhat limited by the spots along the side and at the rear of the restaurant, but you should be able to park in a few additional spots that are along 22nd Street later in the evening when the businesses in the strip mall next door close for the day.

Now let’s dive right in and see what this place has to offer and what we had to eat!

Churrasco – Simplicity at its finest!  Grilled Skirt steak is served with very well seasoned white rice and black beans with a very unique chimichurri sauce served alongside.  The steak had that fresh off the grill flavor and was seasoned perfectly.  I could eat a bucket full of those beans and rice they taste so good!  The chimichurri sauce was thinner than usual but added a wonderful garlic herb flavor to the steak.

Pescado a lo Macho – This ended up being my favorite dish of the night!  A red snapper fillet is breaded and fried till golden brown and is topped with a spicy seafood sauce and a touch of pisco.  White rice was served alongside.  The red snapper, although covered with the seafood sauce had this satisfying crunch when taking a bite.  The fish inside was perfectly cooked, still very moist and flaky.  Don’t let the word “spicy” keep you from trying this dish because it tasted quite mild to me.  It was smooth, creamy, and very luxurious in texture.  So much so, that we asked for spoons to clean up the plate.  We even said that it would make a great seafood soup.

Polo Saltado – On my last review, we tried the steak version of this dish.  It still baffles me as to why French fries are served with this dish.  It would make more sense to serve it with the black beans in my opinion.  The chicken was marinated and very flavorful.  The veggies were sauteed nicely, yet still had a little crunch.  The roasted tomatoes were bright, yet had a very rich tomato flavor and we ended up fighting over the last few bites.

Chaufa – This dish is a mix of Peruvian and Chinese fried rice and has a unique flavor.  The difference in flavor I believe comes from the addition of the peppers that are not usually in the traditional Chinese fried rice.  The chicken version is what we were served, but you can choose steak, combo, or a seafood version.

In Conclusion:

With the variety of restaurant choices that Vero Beach has to offer, you would think it would be difficult to do something different and stand out, yet Inti continues to do just that.  I’m really happy to see that they have made it this far.  I’ve had concerns about them with their off the beaten path location.  With the addition of the new restaurant, Michael’s on 7th that just opened about a month ago, they will definitely get more traffic to this area.  If you have not tried them yet, then I highly suggest you stop by and try something unique to Vero, I know you won’t be disappointed!

Join us on Tuesday, July 9th from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm for the Vero Beach Foodie VIP MeetUp and try some of these dishes you just read about with other local foodies right here in Vero Beach!    Hope to see you there!
