Sebastian Charter Junior High
Sebastian Charter Junior High is a free public school that was created by a group of concerned parents in 2000. These parents saw the need for a school of choice for their students who were about to enter middle school. After many dedicated hours of service, a private corporation was formed to govern Sebastian Charter Junior High (SCJH)SCJH is dedicated to offering a quality education for students in a small school environment. Students are encouraged to participate in service activities which allow them to give back to the community. As a “mainstream” school, SCJH also offers services to students who have been identified as gifted and talented. A resource specialist works with students who have special needs.Parents are encouraged to have open communication with their students teachers. Parents are asked to participate in the Parent Teacher Student Organization. A minimum of 8 hours of volunteer time is required by parents. Hours to serve are flexible, and can be accomplished through phone calls, typing, landscaping, tutoring, copying, and many other activities.
