AAUW-The American Association of University Women-began in 1881 by a few women college graduates to promote women's higher education--something what was all but forbidden at the time. AAUW has been the nation's leading voice promoting equity for women and girls through education, research, advocacy, and philanthropy. The Vero Beach branch--one of 1,000 branches--promotes the development of opportunities for women and girls to enable them to realize their full potential. Its fundraising supports scholarships, grants and programs for women and girls in Indian River County. AAUW Vero Beach is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
