Description

Glendale Elementary opened its door to the community in October 1987. Glendale Elementary is primarily designed to serve the educational needs of children between the ages of five and eleven (Grades K-5). These are the formative years. A time when youngsters can develop traits of social adjustment and academic fundamentals in our ever-changing and complex society. The school provides varied activities formulated to guide each student throughout program at a rate conducive to his level of intelligence and interest.
At Glendale Elementary School, they believe:

That the education of a child is the responsibility of everyone, including teachers, parents, staff members and community volunteers.
That each child will learn and that there are high expectations for all children.
That Learning is fun and rewarding.
That the well being and education of our children is our top priority.
That everyone is responsible for their actions.
That all children deserve a safe and nurturing environment.

Glendale is fortunate to have a dedicated staff of teachers and support personnel who are here to provide all students with an excellent academic and caring environment.
Uniform

Clothing must be the proper size and fit appropriately

Boys

Any color SOLID polo type collared shirts
Shirts must completely cover the abdomen, back, and shoulders, with no midriff showing
ALL TOPS MUST BE TUCKED IN
Pants/shorts – NAVY or KHAKI – no cargo
Fitted at the waist, no visible undergarments, if there are belt loops- grades 2 through 5 must wear a belt
Shorts must be mid thigh to knee length

Girls

Any color SOLID polo type collared shirts

Pants/shorts/jumpers/skirts/skorts/capris - NAVY or KHAKI
Shorts/ jumpers/skirts/skorts must be mid thigh to knee length or longer
Bottoms must be fitted at the waist, no visible undergarments, if there are belt loops- grades 2 through 5 mustwear a belt

Shoes

For safety reasons, sneakers or tennis shoes are required. NO OPENED TOE or BACKLESS SHOES. No sandals or boots.

Winter/Cold Weather: Jackets, sweaters, coats, etc.

Any pullover garment that is worn (sweater, sweater vest, sweatshirt) must be worn with a collared uniform shirt underneath.If sweatshirts/jackets have hoods, students will be asked to tuck thier hoods inside thier garment.  If the garment has any distracting logos, the student will be asked to turn it inside out.  

FRIDAYS

School T-shirt and jeans may be worn. ALL TOPS must be tucked in. Jean shorts, skirts, skorts must be mid thigh to knee length or longer. No cargo style. There are the same rules for length, fit & belts as above. No jeans bottoms with holes. No tattered or frayed jeans.
On Friday IF STUDENTS DO not WEAR T-SHIRT OR JEANS THEY MUST WEAR THE ABOVE UNIFIED DRESS.

The school administration reserves the right to determine whether a student's attire is within acceptable limits of decency and modesty. The principal may allow exceptions for school-wide programs or special classroom activities.
If a student's clothing or footwear is found to be inappropriate, parents or guardians will be contacted to bring proper attire for the student. In an emergency, student will be provided with garments from the unified Dress Code closet and then will be required to change into those items from the closet.
