Recurring: Third Thursdays
Starts: Thursday 11/19/2015 6:30pm
Ends: Saturday 11/19/2016 7:30pm
Also known as "sleep of the Yogi", Yoga Nidra is a means to induce physical, mental, and emotional relaxation, as well as to discern mental obstacles and dissolve old patterns of thinking and habits. On a physical level, Yoga Nidra can help relieve anxiety, insomnia, pain, hypertension, autoimmune disease, and more. On a mental level, the practice can aid in dealing with addictions, or other deeply self-limiting patterns. This class will include Integral Hatha preparatory asana, followed by the guided mediation and setting of a personal intention, or sankalpa.
Yoga Nidra is appropriate for all levels. Students will need to bring a yoga mat, blanket, and any props needed to aid in lying down for over thirty minutes. A towel is recommended for under the knees. Yoga Nidra can also be practiced in a seated position if lying down is not available to the body at this time. Blocks and straps will be provided by the teacher.
This 60 minute class is offered 10:30 AM on Thursdays, and 6:30 PM the third Thursday of each month.
Pricing: $8 per class. $5 for seniors, students, and teachers.
Your teacher, Allison Pojanowski, has been practicing yoga for over 20 years. She has completed her yoga teacher training under Nicole Georgie-Costello and Craig Costello of New World Wellness in Kissimmee, FL, hosted by Aquarian Dreams in Indialantic, FL. The style she studied, Integral Hatha Yoga, as taught by Sri Swami Satchidananda, encourages a yoga practice for "every body" at all times of life. Allison found "her voice" and "her gift" with Yoga Nidra as she studied under a wonderful teacher, a student of Yoga Academy in London, UK. Allison has practiced many styles of yoga, including Ashtanga, Bikram, and Barone Baptiste and has taught Vinyasa Flow. Her true calling, however, is gentle and restorative asana classes available to all. She teaches the traditional Integral Hatha Yoga sequences, yoga with aromatherapy, and children's yoga and meditation, in addition to Yoga Nidra.
