Cathy Allen, Board Member of our sister organization, Friends of the Carr Refuge, will take us on a trip through the National Wildlife Refuge System and learn about its origins, functions, and more. Cathy will share pictures and stories from her visits to more than 50 national wildlife refuges from Alaska to Oklahoma to Delaware and more. Together, we will explore how and why each of our 566 national wildlife refuges was established and what we can do as citizen supporters to make sure the system stays strong for current and future generations of people and wildlife.
Join us for the Pelican Island Preservation Society meeting on Monday, October 23rd, 6pm at the North Indian River County Library, 1001 Sebastian Blvd. in Sebastian; all are welcome to attend. For more information, visit www.firstrefuge.org or call 772-202-0697.
