Tamara Darress

Not only is this next cool person a female entrepreneur with a slew of projects and responsibilities, she has branded herself not only on a local level, but national and worldwide levels as well. Tamara Darress, owner of The Parisian Hostess Boutique in downtown Vero Beach uniquely talented pinup model who basks in the glory of how people lived and admired beautiful women in years past. She has taken initiative in driving her passion for Parisian style, pinup model-etiquette, and love for travel and created a variety of ways to share those passions with the Vero Beach community and the rest of the world.

“I love the retro lifestyle – everything from theatre, music, and performances,” Darress shared. “There’s such an attention to detail with styles from 1930s, 40s, and 50s.”

Born in Singapore, Tamara moved to the United States when she was 12 years old. Throughout her lifetime, worldly travel has become the norm for her. Though she went to Vero Beach High School and has always tied herself to the Treasure Coast, she has spent plenty of time overseas. As a military dependent stationed in Japan, Darress began her own cooking show – “Creative Commissary Cooking” – on the American Forces Network. At one  point she lived in Italy and began a travel show and shared her experiences exploring Naples Underground.

Not only is Tamara a brand creator, independent film actress and expert, pinup personality, retailer, social media marketer, among so many other things, she is also launching Modern Day Pin Up Magazine and is proudly the Editor-in-Chief. The magazine is yet another one of her dreams that she has turned into a reality. The magazine will include pinups from around the world and its release party is scheduled to take place Aug. 17 at American Icon Brewery.

Something else super cool about Tamara is that she was a Miami Dolphins cheerleader at one point and took part in ESPN’s “Making the Squad.”

“I really have done a little bit of everything,” Darress claimed. “I chose to set roots in Vero Beach.” That she did, last year she became President of Downtown Main Street Vero Beach while this year she is on the board as past president, to make herself and her input a part of the business district here. She embraces what she does in her boutique and the products she provides to the residents of the community. One of her latest creations are handmade essential oils and she proudly sells other handmade, natural, bath and body products for both men and women.

While she does travel a great deal, her favorite place while in town is her Paris-influenced home where she spends time relaxing and is always thinking of new ideas and reminiscing about past and future ventures.

Darress recently took part in the tenth season of a reality television show in Norway, which she said was an amazing opportunity. Those who participated were connected with various facets from their family history. Until each episode airs, she’s forbidden from revealing too much, but she said ‘Alt for Norge’ was well worth the experience and well worth the anticipation for those who plan to watch it. The reality TV series first aired in 2010 and features Norwegian Americans participating in challenges relating to Norwegian history and culture, competing to win a reunion with their distant Norwegian relatives. The Parisian Hostess Boutique is located at 2101 14th Ave in downtown Vero Beach and is open from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. She can be found on social media @the.parisian.hostess or at www.theparisianhostess.com
