Quite Possibly the Best Rainbow Ever

Vero's Best RainbowThis week’s remarkable rainbow, by Vero Viner and photographer Nate Harrington @natehphoto, is comparable to a rainbow you might see in Hawaii. Nate has elegantly captured this magical beach scene for those of you who missed it Sunday evening. Let’s all thank Nate for this fantastic shot. More Details.

Did you know that a rainbow is always a full circle of light? Viewing from the ground we only see a semi-circle of the full rainbow. A “double rainbow” is where a second, much fainter arc can be seen outside of the other. This is caused by the light reflecting twice inside the water droplets. On the double reflection the colors are inverted with violet on the outer and red on the inner.
