TOM BUSBY RETROSPECTIVE

Please join us at the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery on Friday, April 7, 2023 from 5:30–8:30 p.m. for the opening reception of “Retrospective”—A Solo Exhibition by Tom Busby.”

Tom, German-born, studied art in Stuttgart and Frankfurt and then later served as a Navy photographer. Tom works primarily in acrylics, utilizing a variety of techniques that capture an impression of his very diverse subject matter. His painting style is fresh enough to remind the viewer of outsider art, yet mature enough in composition to reveal years of training. Abstract shapes in brilliant colors take on the energy as complex as the subject is simple. His later work delves into minimalism, paring down his use of color, and using composition as the primary focus.

Everyone knows Jerry and Cher. They are the couple who do that crazy stuff with their photography. Their images are always such a fantasy. It’s like they are painting with photography on a digital canvas. Jerry joined forces with Cher when she retired and together, they are true surrealists at heart. Their surrealscapes are fantasy worlds meant to be traveled through with both the eyes and the mind.
