Vero Beach, Fla. — The Environmental Learning Center (ELC) is hosting a virtual Earth Month movie viewing event featuring the documentary, Brave Blue World, narrated by Liam Neeson and spotlighting water conservation projects by Matt Damon and Jaden Smith among many others around the world. All are welcome to join this event on the evening of Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 6 to 8pm.
Covering 71% of planet Earth, water makes up a majority of this world and is a natural resource in crisis. The ELC’s virtual Earth Month event will address water quality issues with a panel of local leaders including Dr. Edie Widder of ORCA, and representatives from ELC, Coastal Connections, St. Johns River Water Management District, and Indian River County.
Barbara Schlitt Ford, the Executive Director of the ELC said “The combined knowledge of the participating panelists is quite impressive. Given the convenient virtual nature of the event we hope that everybody tunes in to learn about our serious global issues and how they translate to our challenges right here in our own beloved county.”
The movie viewing event will be hosted on Zoom and is free of charge. Pre-registration is required at DiscoverELC.org. It is an opportunity for people of all ages to gather and learn about the importance of water and some of the ingenious solutions to water issues that are being implemented around the world. The documentary features projects from the United States to Africa and Asia.
“Clean water is essential for healthy living. Failure is not an option. The problems are serious but the message that will be shared is one of hope. We certainly don’t want to look back ten years from now and say “Why didn’t we do what we needed to when we had the chance?” says Schlitt Ford.
After the movie viewing the panel will discuss local water quality issues and present examples of easy to implement solutions that all people can take in their home and community. Together we can reverse the damage done to our local water bodies and ensure that proper laws are in place to mitigate any future issues.
