Dinner Revolution – Restaurant Review

by “The Food Guy” – Food Blogger / Restaurant Critic for Vero Vine and Vero Beach Foodie

I was excited to hear about a new dinner centric restaurant that was opening up in South Vero since this area of town desperately needs more options. Most of the places on this side of town are either breakfast and lunch, high-end fine dining, or Mexican food, so it’s nice to have another option in the area. Owners Nick and Danielle are two of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. They make sure everyone feels welcome and they feed you very well. To me, the name of the restaurant has a dual purpose meaning. First off, this concept is brand new and quite “revolutionary”, a concept that I’ve not seen before. Second, the menu rotates every two weeks which keeps it fresh and interesting so you can try something new each time you visit.

Located in South Vero just off of 27th Ave and Oslo Road, they are located in the small strip mall next to Little Caesars and Anytime Fitness. There is ample parking even on a busy day, so you should not have much of an issue finding a spot. Upon entry into the restaurant, you are greeted with vibrant yellow walls, a large common wood top table with metal chairs, and the counter where you place your order. The menu is electronic via two televisions or they do have a small tablet computer you can take to your table to decide on what you want to order. Once your order is placed, take a seat and they will bring your food out to you.

Now let’s dive right in and see what this place has to offer and what we had to eat!

Grilled Vegetable Quesadilla

The first dish for us to taste was this Grilled Vegetable Quesadilla! It’s stuffed with poblano peppers, onions, red peppers, and cheese. Housemade salsa and sour cream were served alongside. The flour tortilla was grilled perfectly, the vegetables were lightly sauteed and still had a little bite, and the housemade salsa has a slightly smoky flavor.

The Revolution Salad

Your lucky if this is one of your favorites, it does not follow the normal rotation and stays on the menu. It’s made with mixed greens, hard boiled egg, diced tomato, Applewood smoked bacon, and croutons. Salad dressings to choose from are house ranch, balsamic vinaigrette (personal favorite), peach-berry vinaigrette, honey mustard, and a light Italian.

Penne Pesto

I was really happy to see this dish as part of our tasting menu because it’s not something that I would normally order for myself. Penne pasta was tossed with fresh basil pesto, artichoke hearts, roasted peppers, and toasted pine nuts. The basil pesto sauce seemed creamier than I expected it to be, and the texture of the artichokes hearts were very tender.

Sesame Crusted Ahi

If you’re a seafood lover like I am, then I’m sure Ahi tuna is one of your favorites. This Ahi tuna steak was marinated, then encrusted with black & white sesame seeds, and grilled till still rare in the middle. It was served over a cucumber relish. The tuna was very tender, it had a slightly nutty flavor from the sesame seeds, and the cucumber relish was more like sliced pickled cucumbers which added a tangy flavor to the dish.

Roast Beef Press

My wife has had this sandwich before this review and raved about it, so I was looking forward to trying it. Sliced roast beef is served on grilled Tuscan bread with mayonnaise and melted Swiss cheese. Kettle chips and Au Ju are served alongside. It had a rich beefy flavor and the meat was very tender. The Au Ju added additional flavor without being overly salty.

Veggie Dinner

Of all the dishes that we tasted, this one surprised me the most. It’s another dish that I would not order since I consider myself to be a meat eater. After having tried this, I would definitely order this on a future visit. The mushroom was tender and had great grilled flavor. The sauteed veggies were very fresh and the garlic potatoes were just like homemade.

Peanut Butter Pie

I’ve been on a quest lately to find the best peanut butter pie in the area. I’ve tasted three of them recently from several different restaurants and this one is the best so far. It was creamy and light, not too rich that you can’t finish it. Even though we were already full from all the previous courses, we had no problems finishing this one off!

In Conclusion:

Each and every time I visit this restaurant, I fall in love with it even more. Chef Nick definitely has some mad skills in the kitchen and he can cook is a$$ off. Everything that I’ve tasted has always been fresh and cooked to order. They are a very welcome addition to the neighborhood and if you have not tried them yet, what are you waiting for? Head over tonight for dinner, I know you won’t be disappointed!
