Over 400 people came out to The Lyric Theatre on September 30th to watch a free screening of the adventure documentary, A Plastic Ocean. The event was hosted by Florida Oceanographic Society in collaboration with Surfrider Foundation’s Treasure Coast Chapter. The outpour of interest has given Florida Oceanographic Society a reason to host an encore screening of this important documentary at The Lyric Theatre on Friday, November 17th.
After watching the film with a small group of staff and volunteers at Florida Oceanographic Society, Executive Director Mark Perry felt he needed to get the message out to the public. “The first screening of A Plastic Ocean received such a great response that we knew we had to do this again,” says Perry. “If each person who watches this movie makes one meaningful change in their life, we can start to solve the problem of plastic pollution.”
A Plastic Ocean will leave you heartbroken and ready to take action. Viewers are taken on a global adventure to discover the shocking impact that plastic has on our oceans, marine animals, and the food chain. The film introduces workable technology and policy solutions that can, if implemented in time, change things for the better. Florida Oceanographic Society encourages everyone to see the film and take action to save the future of our waterways.
