The Treasure Coast Wind Ensemble is set to perform their annual concert on Friday, June 8, at 7:00pm in the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center, 1707 16th Street, Vero Beach. This concert will include featured soloist Jacob Craig at the piano. Admission is free; donations are appreciated.

The Treasure Coast Wind Ensemble, directed by Colbert Page Howell, consists of amateur and professional wind musicians from throughout the Treasure Coast. The group meets in the spring of each year, having only a handful of rehearsals before debuting their selections in a spectacular one-night-only engagement. This year’s concert, entitled British Invasion, features both standard and challenging wind band repertoire by British composers including Gustav Holst’s Second Suite in F for Military Band, Ralph Vaughan William’s Toccata Marziale, and Sun Paints Rainbows on the Vast Waves by David Bedford. A smaller group of chamber winds will perform Trevelyan Suite by Malcolm Arnold and Homages Concerto for Piano and Winds by Edward Gregson featuring Jacob Craig at the piano.

Virtuoso pianist Jacob Craig is the Director of Music and Arts at First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach.  Jacob received his Bachelor of Music Education and Performance degree from Shorter University in Rome, Georgia, before moving on to Tallahassee to receive his Master of Music in Choral Conducting and Literature under Dr. Andre Thomas at Florida State University.  As Director of the Silver Tones community choir and Pipe Major of the Vero Beach Pipes and Drums, Jacob is also currently pursuing his Doctorate of Sacred Music Performance.

Treasure Coast Wind Ensemble is the only musical organization of its kind on the Treasure Coast. Founded in 2008, it is comprised of band directors, music teachers, freelance musicians, and student musicians from the Space Coast, Treasure Coast, and Palm Beach areas. The ensemble’s goal is to perform an annual summer concert of all original wind music as well as a rewarding playing experience for the musicians. Music chosen for each concert spans several hundred years and is drawn from the chamber wind, brass ensemble, wind orchestra, and symphonic band repertoire.
