Amanda Cox’s Let Go dance theater performance deserves a larger audience. That’s what many thought when they witnessed the original performance in April 2016 at the Indian River Charter High School’s (IRCHS) black box theater. And that’s why AAUW Vero Beach (the American Association of University Women) is bringing it “home” to its roots in Vero Beach, after it has evolved and played successfully in Orlando.
And Vero Beach audiences deserve to see it. Cox’s dancers embody the bothersome voices in our heads—the ones that can rob us of our capabilities. The bold ensemble moves rise to a deafening crescendo, creating the warfare going on inside the mind. But the show breaks open into a place of wisdom, and the joy, flirtatiousness and sheer fun that follows leaves all smiling, basking in the traits that bolster self-esteem.
There is a “take away”: the next time those defeating voices visit, we have a visceral experience strong enough to banish them.
This performance will be a gift to all who come to the Vero Beach Theatre Guild on Sunday, October 8th for either the 2PM matinee or the 7PM evening show.
