As it was in the days of McKee Jungle Gardens in Vero Beach, FL when animals roamed the 80-acre property and engaged with visitors wandering the lush jungle trails, so it will be again. In November 2017, McKee Botanical Garden will open a window to its past when It’s a Jungle Out There! is unveiled and animals inhabit the Garden once again.
Well, not real animals. But 24 beautiful original works of art created specifically for McKee by sculptors from Nairobi’s Ijit Exports. Lions will peer through the palms, elephants will stroll silently through the underbrush joined by giraffes, a hippo, zebra and many other jungle dwellers visiting McKee through April 2018. Each sculpture – ranging in size from 3’ to 16’ in height – has been handmade from recycled metal, majestic in its gracefulness and realism.
Admission: $12 Adults, $11 Seniors, $8 Children ages 3-12, members and children under 3 free. Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 10 am – 5 pm and Sunday Noon – 5 pm. (Closed Monday). The last admission ticket is sold at 4 pm.
