Local Toddler Diagnosed Stage 4 Cancer

On January 22, 2016, our 2 year old son, Cullen, was diagnosed with stage IV cancer, rhabdomyosarcoma. He has a very large mass inside his abdomen that is causing his waistline to be 27 inches around, restricting organ function. Since his biopsy surgery last Wednesday, January 20, he has been in tremendous pain with massive swelling in his lower extremities. He is not able to sit up or walk around on his own right now. They told us the only option he has for survival is chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery with a 50% survival rate for 5 years that includes a host of late effects, such as other cancers, infertility, brain damage, and so much more. We asked about alternative therapies and the doctor said he does not offer anything but the conventional treatment and would call CPS if we did not move forward with his treatment. We had to begin chemotherapy on Saturday, Jan 23. Over the past two years, my family and I have been on a health journey.
